Dr. Roland Lombard,
DVM, and Earl Norris were awarded Honorary Membership by SHCA for service
to the Siberian Husky. "Doc" was
an incredible sprint musher and mentor. Earl was a role model for the Siberian
distance
musher although he was a sprint musher for most of his life. It is appropriate
that these awards given for the best all Siberian team in both sprint and
distance racing and should bear their names.
Purse is used for only the class entered--not the total purse available at
a particular race. If the race is in Canada, then the purse may be calculated
in Canadian dollars.
Each application for the Lombard - Norris Award requires:
Application must be postmarked no later than June 1 for
the year in which the award applied for
The awards shall consist of trophies in each division consistent with obedience
plaques.
The greatest number of points in each division will determine the top team for each division. Points will be determined by the following formula for each:
Distance Division

Examples
A 6-dog team entered with 30 starters in a 60 mile race with a $1000 Purse in which you place 20th of 25 finishers yields 45.6 points. The race is not ISDRA-sanctioned.

A 16 dog team entered in an 1100 mile race with 60 starters and a $50,000. Purse. Your team places 30th of 50 completing and get 1394 points
[(50,000 / 25) + 1100 + 60 + (16 x 10)] x [(50 - 30) + 1 /50)]
Sprint Division: Unlimited

Contact the chariman for the name of the regional reviewer to send your application to. That person will forward it to the chairman for a second review similar to the sled dog degree applications.
