Oakland International Airport (OAK) is located approximately 60 miles from the show site. This is a smaller airport, but served by most major airlines. The Airport is more convenient than SFO, as it is easier to navigate, but there are fewer flights than SFO, and they are often higher in cost. The trip from OAK to the show site is all highway and bridge (one-way toll north $4.00).
San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is located approximately 60 miles from the Doubletree. This is a large, multi-terminal, international airport, served by most airlines with many flights. The most direct route from SFO to the Doubletree includes some city driving in San Francisco, but it takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge (one-way toll north $5.00--$2.50 per axle).
Mineta San Jose International Airport (SJC) is located approximately 90 miles from the Doubletree. This is a smaller airport with fewer flights. The trip to the Doubletree is either via SFO or OAK.
Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is located approximately 100 miles from the show site. Although Sacramento is the State Capitol, the airport is fairly small and easy to navigate. The trip from SMF to the Doubletree is on major highways and smaller levee roads with no toll bridges.
Because of the numerous places of interest in the area, those of you flying to the Specialty might want to rent a car so you can do some sight-seeing in the area. Rental cars are available at all airports.
There are a number of other transportation options. This list is provided for your information, but you should contact the carriers directly.
Sonoma County Airport Express (707/837-8700, 800/327-2024, www.airportexpressinc.com) runs scheduled bus service from a few of the airports directly to the Doubletree. These buses allow for dog crates in the hold.
• Sonoma County Airport to Doubletree: $10.00 each way, arrivals and departures are scheduled to coincide with Horizon flights.
• OAK to Doubletree $28/person each way: scheduled approximately every 2 hours
• SFO to Doubletree $28/person each way: scheduled approximately every 1.5 hours
