Generations Sweepstakes Gala
There is much similarity between the wine industry and dog breeding. The beginning vintner (breeder) starts by selecting the best stock he or she can. Through careful tending, this stock (stud dog/brood bitch) will become the backbone of the domaine (or kennel) with its appellations (lines). Over the years, the vintner creates the cuvée (that special breeding) by mixing strains (bloodlines) to form the perfect wine (dog). Throughout time, the vintner (breeder) must add new stock (outcross) to keep the wine (kennel) healthy and vigorous. The vintner (breeder) must be ever vigilant in tending his vines (dogs), always testing for disease and inherent problems. The products of successful vintners (breeders) will win awards in judged competitions (dog shows), and enjoyed by the public for their wonderful qualities. And, over the years, a successful vintner (breeder) will be able to produce a consistent product known for its depth and breadth of quality.
During your visit to California’s Wine Country, we hope you will be able to sample some of the results of the hard work of successful vintners and Siberian Husky breeders. Because, the 2007 National Specialty pays homage to the long term commitment of the dedicated and successful Siberian Husky Breeder, by showcasing the fruits of their labors. And, in the process, we hope to provide you with opportunities also to sample the local vintages.
Join us for our Wednesday Night Generations Gala, sponsored by Nestlé-Purina PetCare Company! This event will begin with the Parade of Previous SHCA National Specialty Winners. Then, prepare to be treated to both a vertical (across kennels and vineyards) and a horizontal sampling (across the generations) of both local wines and Siberian Huskies!
This evening will showcase our Generations Sweepstakes Competition, and feature complimentary hors-d’oeuvres, a wine tasting, silent auction, and more! Our judges will be Siberian Fanciers Robert and Rose Cashin of La Habra Heights, CA. You may participate by entering and showing 3-related-generations of dogs (grandparent, parent, and child) in the Generations Sweepstakes, and/or by participating in our wine tasting and silent auction.
The entry forms and complete rules for our Generations Sweepstakes will be included in the Premium List. But, we wanted to give you time to plan for your 3-generation entry.
Join us to learn about the local wine industry and applaud the efforts of the breeders of the entries, while “sampling” the best of both! Click here for more information about the Wine Tasting.
