Eye Clinic & Microchip Clinic & AKC-DNA Profile Clinic
ACVO Diplomate, Dr. Paul Scherlie will be conducting CERF eye exams, as well as being available for micro-chipping. Eye clinic cost is $20.00 per dog, and micro-chipping is $30.00 per dog. We will also be providing AKC DNA Profiling at this year’s National Specialty. A DNA profile includes a dog’s registration information, the genotype, and a unique DNA profile number which will appear on all registration and pedigree information. AKC offers a discounted price of $30.00 (a savings of $10.00) for each Siberian Husky’s DNA sample at the National (no other breeds are eligible).To reserve your dog’s place at any or all of these Clinics, use the order form. The CHIC DNA Repository collects and stores canine DNA samples along with corresponding genealogic and phenotypic information to facilitate future research and testing aimed at reducing the incidence of inherited disease in dogs. This DNA Bank will be used to facilitate more rapid research progress by expediting the sample collection process, provide researchers with optimized family groups needed for research, allow breeders to take advantage of future DNA based disease tests as they become available, and foster a team environment between breeders/owners and the research community improving the likelihood of genetic discovery. SHCA Genetics/Health Chairman, will be collecting DNA samples (either cheek swabs or via blood draw). To include your Siberian, please pre-register. Cost for a swab is $10, and for drawn blood is $15 (a portion of which will be donated to the AKC-CHF DAF for Siberian Huskies). Use the order form to pre-register. Questions?
